Melanie Sommerville was born on the east coast and moved to sunny Richland in 1980. She started her community service at age 12 as a candy striper for Kadlec Hospital where she fell in love with spreading joy to others. Melanie continued to serve others with a smile as a First Aid Explorer Post 227 member, Benton Franklin Dispute Resolution Center founding Board Member, assistant director for national civilian service program Regional Service Corps for 11 years, local KEY Club advisor, church board member and more. Melanie’s passion for team building was born at sunny Camp Don Bosco, a CYO summer camp in Carnation, WA, where she facilitated the low ropes course and served as camp minister for two summers.
Melanie graduated from Washington State University Pullman, where she majored in Psychology and Family Studies. She has been facilitating on the Reach Beyond course since 1997, and serves as an organizational assistant for the facilitator team.
Currently Melanie works as the Customer Service Manager with Vivid Learning Systems, a national e-Learning company headquartered in Pasco.
As a visionary, Melanie exercises her big picture thinking and detail planning in many venues, and is often invited to serve as a mentor and success coach. In her spare time, Melanie enjoys the outdoors, crafts, volunteering with community events, and the spiritual and healing arts.
